About the New Jersey Laborers

The New Jersey Laborers Union is the 20,000 member affiliate of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), the most progressive, aggressive, and fastest-growing union of construction workers, public sector workers, and service workers. Our members proudly serve communities across the Garden State.

LIUNA was founded more than a century ago and its members are united through collective bargaining agreements which help us earn family-supporting pay, good benefits, and the opportunity for a better life.

The New Jersey Laborers Union is proud of our innovative labor-management partnerships representing New Jersey Laborers that creates opportunities for employees and employers alike. Working together works best and nobody does that better than LIUNA.

• New Jersey Laborers’-Employers’ Cooperation and Education Trust (NJ LECET) is the nationally recognized economic development, government and civic relations, and marketing arm of LIUNA. It helps contractors stay competitive, win work, and put our members to work. From building market share to helping projects get off the ground, NJ LECET is on the job for our members and contracting partners.
• Our LIUNA Training and Apprenticeship Funds in New Jersey and our Laborers Health and Safety Fund of NJ ensure that projects won are built safely, on time, and on budget. Through training and apprenticeship, we build careers, help our contractors build their businesses, and build a better product. That's the power of LIUNA training.

LIUNA is more than an organization—it’s a movement, built on the proposition that we are stronger united and that every worker deserves a voice in their workplace.

To back up our members, we have:

• Organizing Programs: LIUNA is on the march to a million members. We seek to raise standards, organize the unorganized, and protect and advance our jurisdiction in every industry we represent. We do that through an active, informed, and engaged membership. LEROF, the Laborers’ Eastern Region Organizing Fund, is not only the first regional organization fund in LIUNA’s history, it is also the largest and most active.
• Political Action Programs: We support public officials who support our members. It is as simple as that. Before party affiliation or any other type of label or identifier, we consider ourselves Union Laborers first and foremost. At every level of government, we are actively involved in advocacy because that is the only way we will succeed. Nothing is given to us. It is only earned.  

In everything we do—on the job, in boardrooms and classrooms, and on the streets, we’re successful because of our most valuable asset—our members.
